Hi! Thanks for the question.
Consumerreview.com actually has three revenue streams.
1. Advertisement (Both Web and Classified Ad fees)
2. Commissions from partner merchants.
3. License content (reviews) to other websites/
In this 2001 interview, then CEO Max Mancini had this to say.
?You're saying your revenue comes from advertising? Not even Yahoo!
can pull that off.?
?No, we actually have three revenue streams. Advertising is the
obvious one. Then we have what I call "e-commerce", which isn't us
actually selling anything but rather driving leads to merchants who
pay us to get a qualified lead. The third one is content licensing,
which we've done with the likes of Yahoo!, AltaVista and 20 others big
online plays. We also make our content available on different
platforms, like on the shopping channel of a Sprint PCS phone.?

Hi!
If you will read the company mission of consumerreview.com, you will
notice that they still have the same revenue streams.
User Services
* "Product information, enthusiast user reviews, shopping" (Free)
* "Community discussion boards, photo galleries, news" (Free)
* "User-to-user classified marketplace across all sites" (Fee Based)
Partner Services
* "e-Commerce, price comparison, online shopping, merchandising" (Fee Based)
* "Internet advertising, sponsorships, promotions, marketing" (Fee Based)
* "Content licensing, integrated reviews and shopping, more" (Fee Based)
So basically this is still the way they make money. The new thing here
would probably be the classified marketplace with a $2 ad fee. But I
already incorporated that in my original answer as an advertising
based revenue.
I hope this clarifies my answer.
Thanks!

Hi joe101-ga!
I think the problem will be on the original question. You were asking
on the revenue model of consumerreview.com. No numbers or figures were
mentioned about it. Since Google Answers researchers can only work on
the known original premise (in this case the original question) we
must answer based on the requirements of the initial post.
I have done similar work for the Ebay business model in the past and
this is the way I answered it.

As you can see there are no figures asked so I ddin't give any since I
presumed that what is more importnat is the business model. In this
case it is the same with your question.
Anyway, I found the SEC filings of E-CEntives Inc. And here is what
they have to say about Consumerreviews.com. They did not get into the
detail of the revenue streams.
"ConsumerREVIEW.com represented 35% and 48% of the Company?s total
revenue for the six months ended June 30, 2005 and 2004,
respectively."
You can read the entire segment for Consumerreviews at the next link.

I hope this would be of help.
Thanks!

Hi again!
The difference wasn't the amount.
More answers were given since the customer, iammar-ga, in that
question also asked about security measures at Ebay.
Another reason for the length of the answer was that unlike
customerreviews.com, there are more articles available about Ebay.
Customerreviews.com is indeed a dotcom survivor but it isn't the
success story type like Ebay. More people knew Ebay that is why more
case studies were written about them.
Again I hope this clarifies the matter.
Thanks!

I apologize again.
But I have a problem with this:
"Another reason for the length of the answer was that unlike
customerreviews.com, there are more articles available about Ebay."
I know that - that's why I went to google answer.
If I would pay more moeny. would I get more info?

Hi again!
I really do not know since if I had more information I would post the
info here since I felt (in my personal opinion) that your price is
fair enough. But alas I just can't find any additional resources.
I hope this clarifies things.
Thanks!
