I am greatly devoted to reading books about CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien, and I've never encountered any details of their wedding ceremonies. I wish I could help, but I doubt that the information you're seeking is available. I hope another Researcher can prove me wrong, since I would love to learn more about the lives of these interesting and admirable men. |

If it's any help, JRR & Edith Tolkien were married on Wednesday, March 22, 1916, at St Mary Immaculate Church in Warwick. See: ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=%22St+Mary+Immaculate%22+Warwick++tolkien&btnG=Search As Pinkfreud notes, precise details of the ceremony are likely unavailable. It's a long shot, but I suppose that you could try asking the church if they have any information. Parish records might include witnesses in attendance at the wedding. http://www.stmaryimmaculate.org.uk/ Good luck! |

One more note about the Tolkien wedding... According to page 134 of the book, "Tolkien and the Great War: The Threshold of Middle-earth," the wedding ceremony wasn't a Nuptial Mass, as it was Lent at the time. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0618574816/ |

Since both these men where anglicans, and both were orthodox, I would obtain a copy of the minister's handbook published by the anglican church for each of the years in question. Both being orthodox anglicans, I would assume they would want an orthodox ceremony, but who knows? |

Mathbeast's suggestion would be inapplicable in Tolkien's case, as JRRT wasn't Anglican and wasn't married in an Anglican church or ceremony. |
