Question ID: 582005
I am interested in having a (partial) "listing" of colleges/universities
that -"use" the sybolic computing environments Mathematica or Maple in
their mathematics department.

"use": Here, I am particularly interested in the use of, say, Mathematica
in an embedded fashion within the program. A typical calculus sequence for
freshmen or a differential equations class being _exclusively_ taught by
Mathematica is what I am looking for. That is, student take these classes
in front of the computer or....

"listing": A list of 5 institutions is sufficient

As this is my first time posting a question in Google, I may not have been
quite on the ball with the price offer, but I am ceratinly open to
suggestions. Thank you.

siyavus-ga,

Welcome to Google Answers.

Please have a look at this link:

and let us know if it is the sort of list you're looking for.

If it's not, perhaps you can let us know in a bit more detail what you need.

Thanks,

Dear pafalafa-ga,
I apologize for getting back so late.
Yes,a few are very much on the ball. For example a calculus class
taught at USMA: not only it's a math class, but the class format is
such that students either are forced to do homework with it use it
during a test. I am not interested in a class aimed at teaching
Mathematica or ones that are old entries.
Thank you

OK...thanks.

Have a look at this link:

://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&rls=GGLD%2CGGLD%3A2003-43%2CGGLD%3Aen&q=2004..2006+syllabus+mathematica+%22department+OR+dept+of+mathematics%22+site%3Aedu

I refined it to focus on university math departments, and on fairly
current course material. Let me know how well this works, and which
ones are good hits for your purposes.

Nice to hear back from you, and I'm glad to know that the search
results I provided earlier met your needs.

Hi Siyavus,

Below is a partial listing of colleges/universities that use the
symbolic computing environment Mathematica. While, since I am not
paid, I do not have time to check that all use it in their mathematics
department. Some, although it is doubtful, may use it only in their
Engineering Department. I can tell you that the majority of the
University of California (UC) campuses use Mathematica in their math
department. As do many of the California State University (CSU)
campuses such as Humboldt State University.
