My sis tells me there is a way for a person in one country to use
the home, car etc. of a person in another country in exchange for
the same. I would like to know details on how this is arranged.

There is indeed a way to swap homes for your vacation. I have never
done it, but friends of mine swapped with a German family and they
found the experience fascinating and it gave them a chance to
experience everyday life in Germany - far better than staying in a
bland modern hotel.

There are now numerous internet web sites with companies offering
swaps, there are also forums if you want to arrange it yourself. Each
company has a different way of advertising your home and the costs
involved vary.
