Hello rerebx,

I've found a company that has the Griffin Rug Machine in the original
box - they sell antique tools, sewing machines, and patent models.

There's a couple of ways to go about this. I can contact them and post
an answer for you re: the operating instructions - how to use the
tool, or give you a link to contact the antique tool company and they
can mail the directions to you. In either case... I can't do anything
until Monday because I'm sure their office is closed until then. And
there's the off chance the antique tool company won't want to release
the information without me buying the tool! Which I am not going to
do... :)

Of course, another researcher might have the information before I can
further work on this.

hello tlspiegel,

I found that same company and even asked to purchase just a copy of
the instructions they didn't get back to me and they seem to be the
only other place on the net that has one of these things. I'm not
willing to pay $125 just for the instructions.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm pretty persuasive when I want to be. ;) Sometimes I surprise myself!
I'll work on it Monday and if I have any success will post the answer for you.

Good luck, I'll keep my fingers crossed :-)

Hi rerebx,

Well, I made 2 phone calls to the 2 numbers listed on their webpage.
I left a message on the #888 for someone to please call me back. I'm
getting a strong impression this is a very small company that is
working out of their home. I may be wrong, of course. I'll make a few
more calls today - maybe they're just out eating lunch?

If someone does get back to me, I've got a 'story' to tell re: the
machine... and hopefully that person will take pity on me. I know I
would! ;)

Keep checking back here for any new information, and my suggestion is
to not keep your fingers crossed for too long. You might need them
for tasks during the day (like typing on the computer)...lol

At this point luck isn't going to work. However pity might. Still
trying for you,

Hello,

well just don't use my story, ...my dear old grandmother passed away
and left me her most cherished crafting items and the machine was one
of them....:-)

I'll keep my "toes" crossed for luck and pity appreciation.. lol

cheers

Hi Rerebx,

You wrote this:

Well guess what! I was outside across the street admiring the new
haircut my neighbor gave her Pomeranian... sitting on the grass
playing with her kids - come home and see I've had a voicemail message
waiting.

Hmmmm... who can it be calling me long distance. YUP! It was the
lady from the company. She's been on the road, ladeda... etc., etc.
Left me a long detailed message about this and that. lol

I tried calling her back but the line's been busy. I am SO glad I saw
your clarification... before talking to her. I was going to "use"
pretty much the same story! Oh my goodness. ;)

I'll keep trying to reach her. She also said she'd call me back one
more time. I'll let you know what happens either good or bad. Keep
those toes crossed!

Hi again! UPDATE:

Well well well. I talked to a human person... here's how you will get
the instructions if you want them:

If you send a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope with $5.00 to: Carole
Meeker, 5702 Vacation Blvd., Somerset, CA 85684 with a little note
attached saying you need the instructions for the Griffin Rug Machine
she will be happy to send you a xerox copy of the directions.

The hitch: She is on the road and won't be home until the end of
September. Someone is picking up her mail, but she won't be able to
take care of your request until then. She said the instructions are
at the home.

Now - this is funny... she says to me "Are you the lady who emailed
me?" ha ha.
I told her "Nope. I'm the one who called and left a message with
you."

You can uncross your fingers and toes now! (I did ask her if I sent
the money now would she remember I asked her about doing this and she
said no problem... just be sure to send along a little note asking for
the instructions.)

So, the bottom line is this: if you feel this answers your question
to Google Answers, please post a clarification request for me answer
the question for you and I'll do so.

My story: I told her a neighbor had given me the machine because she
knew I liked to do 'artsy-craftsy type of things'. My neighbor had no
clue how to use it. When I opened the box, I was as mystified as I
could be and really wanted to use the machine. Could Ms. Meeker help?

Good Luck to you,

great job, you are truely wonderful. But I think I'll wait until the
end of September to send the request. It looks like the toe strategy
worked :-) perhaps I should try it when I ask for a Raise!!!

Cracking up here. Thanks for the 5 star rating. I do appreciate it.
Hey! I had fun with it. I never expected the company to call me back
and this just restores my faith in humanity. lol

Once you get a rug made you can mail me a sample for a mouse pad... :)

Have fun with it,
