Would you know how someone can earn money from informing record companies of cases of musical plagiarism/copyright infringement? Example;I recognised a popular dance group in the U.K had copied the tune & some lyrics of a song that was written by a song writing friend of mine. I informed the said friend of the name of the offending artists and the name of their song & gave him a copy of their version. He shared this information with his music publishers et al & successfully sued , and had all future pressings etc of the offending track show joint writing credits , ultimately my friend actually earns more from the track than the dance group.Sadly I was not rewarded for my troubles.I seem to have a good ear for this kind of thing and I want to know , how could I as a "third party" successfully earn money from this venture & protect my interests legally were I to try and do this again in the future. |
