This is definitely a question to be answered by the patient's physician. |

patients undergoing any sort of surgery need a buildup therapy of which diet is an important component. I would advise the patient to ingest protein rich diet which is even more pertinent in cancer patients. Diet containing meat does not promote stomach cancer. Exact pre-op regime might not be within the scope of this comment. |

Studies have shown that industrialized countries usually tout a high protein diet also have the highest rates of cancer and degenerative disease. The World Health Organization's recommendation on protein intake is only a fraction of what most Americans consume. A high protein diet will be the largest factor as to the causation of most cancers and degenerative diseases. My recommendation would be vegetable soups made from scratch, no table salt, no canned soups, and especially not meat. I would recommend reading up on raw foods diets or diets that lean in that direction. These diets have clinically been shown to reverse cancer and heart disease. Most of all, learn that we can prevent this type of problem by simply changing our lifestyle. |

Hello hyunch, you say "studies show...." and then later "these diets have clinically been shown to reverse cancer.....". Can you please provide exact details? Many thanks. (Oh, and khristena's q is about someone who already has cancer and is about to be operated on, so it seems to me that iwillanswer's response is more relevant in the very short time-frame.) |

I appreciate Jago8's clarification on my question. I am asking the question for someone who already has cancer and awaiting for operation. I heard about a health food called 'glyconutrients' which is plant-based powder. Can this be given to the patient to strengthen his body before the surgery? Can this even be used to 'reverse' the cancer? Please adice if you have any experience using the product. Thanks much. |

In general, it is good to ?build up? a patient before surgery ? especially a major one. However, we have to keep in mind the site of the tumor and the effect it has on the patient in case of Ca. Stomach. If the tumor is ?distal? and is causing vomiting, it would not be advisable to try solid stuff like meat, etc. Instead, more fluid based nutrients with a mixture of carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, etc would be advisable. In the absence of vomiting, any nutritious food is ok. Actually, natural food is best ? all ?supplements?, etc are marketing gimmicks. 2 weeks is too short a time for diet to affect tumor growth. Effect of food on cells is only in the long run ? years. To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to ?reverse? cancer of any organ with ?food supplements?, etc. These are generally ways to fatten the purses of the promoters. Unlike doctors, these fly by night operators are never sued!!! My best wishes to the patient and to the family. May God give all of you strength in this time of need. I will also pray for all of you. I have heard that organic carrot juice and green tea will reverse cancers. As one of the other commented, you need to change your diet. May God be with you. |
