Hey,

Im interested in builing a light feature as a decorative peice. What i
have in mind is a 1m gyroscope with independent motors for each ring.
The inner ring containing ccfl tubes LED etc to create a cool effect
such as: http://www.dan.com/gallery/gyrolight however not on the same
scale, size, strength price etc... This would be a hobby and as such i
would be trying to create it as cheaply, and easily as possible.
However i have no experience in engineering, metal work, but a little
in computers. I was wonder how you would go about constructing
something like this.

What materials to use, how to actually build it (how would i do all
the welding and stuff, i have no experience nor welder), how to
control the motors speed and lighting, ideally automatically or with a
computer, how to get power to inner
motors, lighting, etc.. My main concern would be the price of building it, i
would want the components to be as cheap as possible. My question is,
how and with what would i build this device and how would i go about
getting parts constructed if i am unable to build them myself, what do
you think this would cost?
