Terry I doubt very much if this service is going to give you an answer (even if you were to offer $200 dollars for the question) Also to give any type of reasonable answer to your question would need some clarifications. Please bear in mind the following: - An as400 can be configured as many "LPARS" where each Lpar looks like a separate As400 even though there is only 1 physical box. Are you asking for the total number of LPARS or just the total number of physical boxes? - Many As400s may be "installed" but are in fact obsolete. Do these count? - What about AS400 owned by individual consultants (many of them bought second hand or perhaps given away by the original owner) Do these count? I also noticed that your question did not include India which probably now is the proud owner of a huge number of AS400 processors (as a result of outsourcing) I remember hearing a figure of 500000 AS400 processors been produced worldwide. However this figure is almost certainly dropping as companies will consolidate their processors into larger boxes (and of course some companies will convert to other systems). Multi national companies who have in the past owned multiple AS400 spread across different sites both nationally and internationally are now consolidating these processors in one data centre. I suspect the only organisation who can give you an answer to your question are IBM themselves and even they may not have accurate records. Regards Mongolia |
