Training for a basketball tournament and I want to gain as much
leaping ability as possible. What is the best routine to do this. I
need to know exact description of exercises and number of sets and
ramp up based on which week I am into the exercise. But nothing that
puts too much stress on the knees don't want jumpers knee and would
prefer not to get shin splits either

Well I mean I do know of these books and programs along with many
other ones. The best information would be if someone actually used one
or was a trainer and could verify which ones are better. Or secrets of
the trade to not make mistakes.

If you want to increase your vertical for basketball, the best thing
to do is Plyometric exercises.  Here is a plyometric workout designed
for basketball players you might want to try:

As a coach, I've seen tremendous vertical improvements in one month
after performing plyometrics every day.  Give it a try!
