I would like architectural drawings for all, or most of the buildings in the Pariser Platz (Paris Square), the most famous square in Berlin (with the Brandenburger Tor - Brandenburg Gate). I am recreating it in a 3d graphics program and need exact dimensions of the buildings to do this. | |

Dear herzog31, I'm glad to know that I could help you. Unfortunately, the libraries of the Zentral- and Landesbibliothek Berlin (Central and State Library) do not explicitly offer to make photocopies which they will send to you. However, you can always ask them if they would be willing to do it in your particular case: http://www.zlb.de/fragen_sie_uns/ask_a_librarian/infopoint-engl Best regards, Scriptor |

If you have access to a university library or possibly any public library, you can request materials through them. Many libraries, especially college and university ones, have arrangements for interlibrary access and loans. Policies vary and you may have to pay for copying. If you need help with anything in German, I am fluent. |

Here is another idea: contact the following museums and the magazine of the Association of German Architects. I don?t think English should be a problem. The more knowledgeable you are on the subject, the better the response will be, but I expect that you know the names of the buildings and architects, etc., already. Don?t just ask them what they have in their own archives, pick their brains for information from other sources, such as this magazine, but also any others. Maybe foreign magazines have had articles about the one or other building. Deutsches Architektur Museum http://dam.inm.de/ Architektur Museum of the Technical University, Munich http://www.architekturmuseum.de/ausstellungen/index.php Der Architekt, magazine of the Bund deutscher Architekten http://www.bda-architekten.de/arch/bda/list.php?thema=derArchitekt As an afterthought that should have been a first suggestion: Contact the offices of the architects directly. Good luck, Myoarin |
