Question ID: 583124
Some people are unable to reach my website www.javaclimber.com Many
people are able to access the site successfully. Those who can not
access the site can ping it and they can tracert. Those who can not
access the site can even ssh into the server the website is hosted on.
 Sites like http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.javaclimber.com
can view my website. I even tried to telnet to port 80 from a
computer that can not access my site and got a lost connection error.
SSH from that machine works fine. My site is also running on port
8082 if that helps anyone. How can I get this problem fixed so
everyone can view my site.

Thanks
Kevin Nilson

Ditto the above, for me. Very strange, and I'd have to
agree with superdave re DNS propagation. Here's some

I called SBC as suggested. I got all kinds of silly questions like
"what OS are you using?" and "what is the model of your modem?", "How
many lights are lit on your modem". I requested to go to level 2
support. Level 2 support asked the same exact set of silly questions
as level 1 then told me they couldn't help. I don't even think they
listened to my questions. Doesn't SBC do any quality control before
hiring Level 2 support out of Hyderabad. Every time I responded to
his questions and every time I asked him a question he would say,
"Please give me a minute or two to research your question sir".

ChangeIP has been working with me as well. They have been great.
Knowledgeable and they can comprehend my question and have made good
thought out suggestions, but still no resolution.

Perhaps try having the users who are unable to reach
www.javaclimber.com try pinging 68.127.150.200 and then
www.javaclimber.com from the command line.

Or have them try opening http://68.127.150.200 in a browser.

Result A:
A response is gained from pinging 68.127.150.200 or a response is
gained from opening http://68.127.150.200 in a web browser. This
indicates a DNS problem. If more than 24 hours have elapsed, try
contacting your DNS services provider. From your whois info, this
appears to be CHANGEIP.com:

----------------------------------------------

An nslookup command against all of the following servers (correctly)
yeilds 68.127.150.200 as the IP, which is the right IP address for
www.javaclimber.com:

-----------
> SERVER NS1.CHANGEIP.COM
Server: NS1.CHANGEIP.COM
Address: 63.210.174.80
> www.javaclimber.com
Server: [63.210.174.80]
Address: 63.210.174.80

Address: 68.127.150.200
---------
> SERVER NS2.CHANGEIP.COM
Server: NS2.CHANGEIP.COM
Addresses: 66.34.135.28, 68.15.19.50, 213.198.89.85

doing each individual server for the addresses (66.34.135.28,
68.15.19.50, 213.198.89.85) yeilds:
> server [all above addresses for NS2.CHANGEIP.COM]
Server: [66.34.135.28]
Address: 66.34.135.28

Name: www.javaclimber.com
Address: 68.127.150.200 <----------
--------------------------------

To me, it looks like a DNS propigation problem which is a bit strange
since you haven't modified your Domain Registration information since
July 2004.

Result B:
No response is gained from pinging 68.127.150.200 and it can not be
opened in a web browser. This would likely indicate a network
connectivity issue somwhere between your customers and your server.
