I'm a student working on an independant project and need data on the
amount of NOx emitted by mobile sources. I've come across data for NOx
emissions/Kw for stationary sources, but can not find similar data for
various classes of autos (pre-1996 and newer), deisel engines, and
off-road mobile sources. Where can I find such data? |

Here are the NOx emissions summary data for the US:
http://www.epa.gov/air/airtrends/2005/pdfs/NOXNational.pdf
which includes a variety of data on mobile sources, but does not
break-out the vehicles into pre- and post- 1996. However, since the
data itself extends back to 1970, it certainly provides some good
historical context.
Will these data meet your needs?

It's a start, but what I was really looking for was an average per
gal. fuel or per mile emission rate, in order to estimate a per
individual contribution og reactive nitrogen to a watershed.

Thanks for looking, but I think I've already poured through most of
the general public information from government websites, and the
airtrends data provides only an estimated sum across the nation. I'm
going with a best, generalized estimate of .27 mg N/meter driven, and
hopefully I'll be able to track down a breakdown per vehicle class
before it's time to write up. Cage etal have published data for
European models, but from what I understand, there is considerable
debate as to whether European models are comparable to US, and which
models have tighter emission controls.
