Is it possible to create a web based application that will rip a track from a CD and upload it to a server? Obviously when you use a web based email service and send an email you can browse to attach a file. I would like a page that has the same function and then you can browse to your audio CD and attach a cda file. When you hit submit the program would then upload all the data for the specified track to a server. Is that possible? What language could such a program be written in? |

In short, the answer is no. The size of each track on a CD is well above 50mb so to create a strictly web based application would be nearly impossible as the CDA file needs to be converted in order to "RIP" it from the CD. It may be possible to create a JAVA applet would aid in this by ripping the CD to the local computer then upload the resulting MP3 tracks. Assuming you are doing this for strictly backup purposes and not distribution, keep it simple and use media player or a freeware ripper, then upload the MP3. |
