Well I'd answer this, but since there's no way for me to gain an account that allows me to do so, not going to happen. What I will say is, this is a complex scenario and whoever answers you will either need additional information or you WILL NOT receive accurate advice. Excuse me, I have to go stroke my Data Protection Law certificate again... |

armagh, You have posted a question and offered $5.00 for the Answer. People that make Comments cannot receive your offer of compensation, only the Google Answers Researchers can. That does not stop _most_ Commenters from offering Answers and suggestions (in the Comment area). You can tell the difference between "Registered Users" (like drochaid) and Official Researchers by their name. Mine is blue and clickable which leads to my ratings page (I am an Official Researcher), and everyone else gets plain black, not clickable. Also, Google does not allow posting of email addresses in this forum --to prevent spammers from farming the site, so please don't post yours unless you want your question to disappear. Sorry I don't have an Answer for you, but there are over 500 carefully screened official Researchers, any number of which are scanning the site 24 hours a day looking for Questions in their area of expertise that they can "Lock" and Answer. Look here: http://answers.google.com/answers/faq.html#aboutres Regards, ~~Cynthia |

Armagh, I live in Germany and once was a date control person for a company, so I am a little familiar with the situation - but no expert, see the disclaimer below. Name and address are considered public information, so there is really no restriction on their use, but clubs are often overly cautious, and I think - ethically - that they should be. They should ask their members before they sell their names on an address list. "... we simply write to then on there club headed paper ..." This strikes me as being entirely unethical, if not worse, misrepresenting your message as one sent by the club. It is unethical of the clubs to allow you to do this, and even if they do so, it is still unethical of your company to use their letterhead. Sure, you're not doing anything evil, say, just selling scarves to football fans, but I think the approach needs to be refine. Good thing that you ask. Maybe Drochaid will be lured back to refute me.
