I need information about this phone number 0097143942393 .. A friend
of mine was called from this number and she is now terrified as the
caller put the reciever down when she answered, and it has a very
strange area code "009".
Can you help me to find out where this call came from ???

prefix,+. So, essentially, the number is +97143942393. If we break the
number up, +971-4-3942393

971 is the country code for the United Arab Emirates
4 is the city code for Dubai
3942393 is the number in Dubai city

It (971) seems to be the country code for the United Arabic Emirates
(at least here from the Netherlands it is), so probably someone there
called a wrong number and when he/she heared an English speaking voice
he/she hung up. I think your friend can stop worrying. If you want to
make sure, just call the number back and listen in what language they
answer. They live at GMT +0300, so the time of day that they called
may also provide a clue. You should also take the time difference into
account when calling back.

I think ganswijk has it right.  The 00 is a very common prefix for
international dialling codes, and 00971 indicates United Arabic
Emirates.
