Hi - my endocrinologist diagnosed me as AGHD (Adult Growth Hormone Deficient)
due to failing two different tests. My insurer has refused my endocrinologist's
prescription for growth hormone (Humatrope by Eli Lilly). Does Eli Lilly have
a program to provide/sponsor the medicine for patients who are refused by
their insurer? Thanks.

Hi smcracraft,

Lilly does indeed sponsor a patient assistance program for which you
may be eligble. From the sound of this, you will have an Advocate from
this agency to assist you in finding the best program --for you.

Best of all: ..."Services performed by the HRC are provided at no
cost to patients and doctors' offices..."

Humatrope Reimbursement Center (HRC)
http://www.humatrope.com/common_pages/reimbursement_adult.jsp?reqNavId=3.3.3
..."Since 1987, the HRC has assisted doctors' offices, patients and
patients' families with reimbursement solutions. A personal Humatrope
Reimbursement Advocate researches all sources for funding and works
with doctors' offices to ultimately make the reimbursement process as
easy as possible.

Unlike other therapies, Humatrope requires special handling and is not
available through local pharmacies. Humatrope is available only
through special providers. A Humatrope Reimbursement Advocate
researches and selects the most appropriate provider for patients and
patients' families.

Patients may call the Humatrope Reimbursement Center directly at
1-800-642-2340, and a Humatrope Reimbursement Advocate will help
patients with: ..."

I found that here:

Humatrope - Access Program - For Health Care Professionals
http://www.lilly.com/products/access/direct_patient.html (near the bottom)
For patients prescribed Humatrope, Lilly provides a special patient
assistance program in which they may be eligible to participate. The
program will provide either a full or partial supply of Humatrope
product for a twelve-month period. The patient is responsible for any
remaining cost of Humatrope therapy not covered by the Access Program.

I hope this helps you get Humatrope!! If I can be of further
assistance, please don't hesitate to ask via the request for
clarification feature...

~~Cynthia

Search strategy used:
I went to Lilly, found "Access to Medicines" link, clicked on "Patient
Assistance," followed links to Humatrope site with reimbursement
information.
