Problem:
Network Card stops responding (all network connections go dead).
Occurs randomly, perhaps every few days or so on average. I can make
it work again by going into network connections and Local Area
Connection and clicking disable, and then enable. However I would like
it to simply work. I have also tried updating to the newest drivers -
this made the problem occur more frequently, so I rolled them back to
the ones listed below

Details:
OS: Windows XP
Computer: Pentium 4 3Ghz, 1 GB Ram, Geforce 6800, 120 GB Segate SATA
Network Card: built into my Gigabyte 865PE motherboard:
Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010
Driver: Marvell
Date: 26/11/2004
Driver Version: 7.29.4.3

Howdy jim1013-ga,

Do you have the network port set to "autosense" or a fixed setting? Thanks!

"Media Type" is set to 100MBit/s Full Duplex, autosense is an option,
but it is not set to this.

Howdy jim1013-ga,

If you could please set the "Media Type" to autosense and see if that
makes a difference, and report your results back here, that would be
most appreciated. Thanks!

I have just built a new computer with, Asus P5WD2 Premium mother
board, with the built in Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 PCI Gigabit
ethernet controller, Driver date 9/19/2005 ver. 8.41.1.3 and I have
never had so many problems with my internet connection goin down.
Yes, if I disable then enable my connection it USUALLY fixes it but
sometimes I have to do it twice, and it is a major pain in the butt.
Where do I find the "media type" setting so I can try that.

I am having the same problem. I am assuming you are talking about the
settings in the bios. I will try this if the problem occurs again.

I have tried removing the the power management setting on the network
card that allowed the computer to turn off the device. So far so
good.

Hi,

I have this exact same problem with my onboard Marvell Yukon 88E8053
PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller. It is connected @ 1.0GBps to my
home Gbps switch. The problem is every time I try to copy large
(>100MB) amounts of data over it, the port simply stops passing
traffic all together after a random amount of time. I have to go into
Network Connections and disable/enable the card to get things going
again. I've tried upgrading to the latest drivers (13th Sep 2006),
dropping the port down to 100Mbps but it still happens.

Seems like shitty drivers to me...
