Hi, I?m a lover of the travel stories of the Czechs Jiri Hanzelka and Miroslav Zikmund of the late 40ties and early 50ties with their famous Tatra car. Living in Germany I found all there books related to Africa, South and Central America and SE Europe/Middle East. Are there travel diaries of further trips to Asia and Australia? I know there were some plans but I don?t know if realized and published. So, where and in which languages can I find something? Or is there definitely not more than the books I already own? Thanks for the research! serendipix |

Hallo, serendipix! Schöne Grüße, Scriptor (Note to the editors: This comment refers to a Czech list of books.) |

Hi Serendipix, From an article by Radio Prague, (http://www.radio.cz/en/article/37643) we learn that Hanzelka and Zikmund did make a trip to Asia, Australia and Oceania. They reported on four specific areas: Indonesia, Irian Jaya, Japan, and the Soviet Union. To add to Scriptor's comments, Amazon.de seem to only have accounts from their trips to the Americas and Africa. www.alibris.com is a good resource for tracking down hard-to-find books. I was unable to find any travel accounts of Australia when looking there, but did find two further to the ones found by Scriptor, namely, Kashmir - the Valley of Heaven and Kurdistan: Country of Insurrections, Legends and Hope (both 1962). Both can be found by going to the site and searching for Hanzelka under author. Both are english language versions stocked by U.S. vendors. |
