"When I'm Sixty-Four" is credited to John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
It was actually written by Paul, as a tribute to his father and the
music of the thirties. Paul has said that he originally composed the
melody when he was fifteen. The song became famous in 1966 as part of
the Beatles' landmark album, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band,"
and was also featured in the soundtrack of the animated film "Yellow
Submarine." Both CDs are widely available. This song has had recent
exposure as the theme music in a series of Allstate Insurance
commercials.
