My divorce agreement states that each parent agrees to pay for a four
year collee education for each child as follows: Each party shall pay
one half the cost of a colleg education commesurate with the amount
the charge at SUNY Stony Brook , including tuition ,dormitory ,and college fees,
after application of all grants, scholarships and loans obtained
and/or undertaken by the child. My oldest child( 3 children) is expected to attend
college in September 2006 - the colleges of her choice are twice the
price of SUNY Stony Brook - so I will have to pay the difference. I am
receiving $300 dollars per week
alimony which ends August 2006. How do I state this on my Financial
Aid form so that I am eligible for the most aid? My income will
decrease $15,000 per year in August 2006 from this loss of alimony but
I am supposed to file the financial aid form in January 2006- for the
year 2005. Also, my ex husband makes 100,000 and I make 20,000 per year
before child support(20,000 per year from him) and alimony(15,000 per
year ending 8/2006). Will his income lower my financial
aid package even though I am expected to pay 50%? We are not friends
and I can expect no assistance from my ex husband accept what is
required by law.
