"psychic: a person apparently sensitive to nonphysical forces"
"legitimate: ...2 : being exactly as purposed : neither spurious nor
false <legitimate grievance> <a legitimate practitioner>
3 a : accordant with law or with established legal forms and
requirements <a legitimate government> b : ruling by or based on the
strict principle of hereditary right <a legitimate king>
4 : conforming to recognized principles or accepted rules and

My opinion in general is they are probably legitimate for definition 3
and maybe even 4, but most likely not 2.
We are all looking for answers (why do you think Google Answers
exists?). Many people are willing to give it...for a price (again,
Google Answers). Some people are looking for closure with someone who
has died. "Psychics" can fill that need, often by saying things are
"okay".
Houdini did not find any:
"Houdini was skeptical of claims of the paranormal and was vigilant in
alerting the public to psychic fraud. In 1926, he testified at
Hearings on Fortune Telling held in the House of Representatives
before the Subcommittee on Judiciary of the District of Columbia.
Houdini's book, A Magician Among the Spirits, was published two years
earlier. In this work he exposed many of the prominent mediums of his
time."

A modern magician, The Amazing Randi, has had the same results:

I did not find any reference to that address.
My psychic prediction is... I forsee you losing much money if you
continue your contact with a psychic. |
