I'd like to get historical market cap information for several public
US-based companies (listed below), by quarters from 1999 to present.
One way to do that is to get historical stock price for each
end-of-quarter day (i.e., March 31, 1999; June 30, 1999; Sep 30, 1999;
etc.) AND get the "# of shares" for each company at those specific
dates. I could do that by looking at SEC filings. "# of stocks" is
also a bit tricky since there are usually different classes of shares,
and one would have to figure out which "total share #" to use.

Does anyone know a better way to do this? I've described the "brute
force and tedious" method above... are there resources that would make
this a bit easier?

Thanks!

Thanks for the info.

I contacted them via email, and they responded promptly.

excerpt from their response:
"I am sorry but our files are too large to import into Excel, most of
our clients utilize oracle. We can't provide the services you are
looking for on the small scale, and even on a large scale such an
endeavor would require a lot of work on your end. Best of luck in your
search, sorry we can't help."

So, I'm still searching.
