Windows (not the brand name, the actual windows themselves) in XP have three states: minimized, maximized, and in-between. Whenever I click on a link the content opens in a window in state 3 above -- in between. I would prefer content to open in a window that is maximized. I would have thought there was some simple way to set this option, but if there is I cannot find it. My (two) questions are: (1)can I force XP to open content in a maximized window, and if so (2) how? | |

Try clicking and dragging on all sides of the window to make it as large as possible. The next time you open a window it should be that size. Not completely maximized but good enough for me. |

Maximize the first window you open once, and all windows from then on should be maximized. You may have to repeat for different programs that open in their own window. But once you do it once, it should continue to stay that way. |

Hi hapgood-ga, Follow the instructions below exactly and your problem should be solved. Right click the shortcut icon for IE next to the Start button, choose Properties, change it from 'normal' to 'maximized'. Now open it. Now right click any link on the page, choose Open In New Window....don't maximize it....instead, use the mouse to resize it to what you want it to be. Now close the FIRST window you opened, and then close the new one you just resized. Reopen IE from the shortcut icon again, and all windows from now on will be the size you chose and created. Hope this help. :) |

I don't understand this. When you say 'Now open it.' what is 'it'? In the next sentence you make reference to 'the page'. What page? I'm not at all clear from your answer if I can set the system to always open content in the maximized condition or whether I am forced to come as close as I can in the in-between state. To me, that is not optimal. |

Use firefox/opera instead of ie, if you've never used tabbed web browsing you've never lived |
