There are 21.3 million active quilters in the U.S. and an estimated 30
million quilters worldwide.

According to the 2003 Quilting In American survey there are now 21.3
million active quilters nationally.

?That was an increase from 19 million quilters in 2000 and 15 million
three years earlier. The 2003 survey results showed that quilters
spend $2.27 billion a year on their passion.?

?The International Quilt Market & Festival, a division of Quilts Inc.
and Quilter?s Newsletter Magazine, commissioned the study.

NFO Research Inc. and Abacus Custom Research Inc. conducted the survey.

The survey also showed that 25 percent of the total are ?dedicated
quilters?, those spending more than $500 annually on quilting, Quilts
