I am looking for information regarding direct mail list selection and sources. I
work for a financial marketing company looking to purchase a list of
insurance agenta for all 50 states. We are targeting the Equity
Indexed Annuity Market. Although a fixed product they tend to compete
at some level with securities products including variable annuitties.

I am looking for specific information on how to select and test
mailing list that are relevant to our industry and where such list can
be purchased. Our primary carrier is Allianz Life of North America.
Their best seling product is the MasterDex 5.

Some links and scources that we know of...

There are several direct marketing list companies available on line,
and nearly all of them will claim to have all the specific information
that you want. Database list companies contact me frequently and I've
had some problems in the past. The problem is that some companies churn
out old data or even add felonious information about individual
contacts, virtually customizing any list to any profession. I've found
that many of these companies are based out of Las Vegas and Florida.
{Not to say that all companies aren't reputable from those states}
I've purchased accurate data at www.infoUSA.com A good website to
check out is www.the-dma.org,(Direct Marketing Association) They can
find you an accurate list but you'll have to buy their membership.
Insurance agents need to be licensed but that doesn't mean they have
to join any group, so finding one "all encompassing" nationwide list
of the agents that your looking for could be difficult. However you
should go to the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents
website www.pianet.com and check out their links to the many national
insurance agent associations, but getting the list you need might
require membership dues as well. If you're intent on using a list
company, ask alot of industry specific questions. You can kind of
determine their validity by how many "fields" they offer of industry
specific data, even if you just wanted names, addresses, phone numbers
and specialty Good Luck-formyowngood
