Hi. I'm looking for skills needs projections for U.S. for next 10 to
20 years. I'm an 48 year old engineer looking to insure solid
employment for that time peroid. I'm interested in trends for my
personal career planning and find it amzaingly difficult to find
anything of value in the public domain. U.S. Labor dept has not
credibility with me after false data was presented during Regan years
to encourage growth in engineering. Also typical references in
libraries are too vague. I'm looking for a substantial work based on
real data, not just someones guesses. Specific areas of interest are:

- Trends and projections in technical areas such as but not limited to
software engineering.
- Trends and projections in engineering management and general management skills
- Trends and projections on impact of China on US and world skill needs
- Trends and projections on numbers of people entering these areas;
e.g. what will the demand be for folks with those skills as a result
of supply of such people.

If significant info not available in public domain, I'd like to know
where I can buy it.

Skill sets are difficult to develop and you are too old to compete
against new young workforce. Which gives u 3 choice.
1) Setup consultancy firm to offer services
2) Go abroad to other countries (leave home) to find a job. Engineers
are needed else where, it's law of supply and demand.

3) Retire early, live simply, u should have a pension by now else it's
better to start one.

Thanks but I'm not looking for advice, just the data listed.
