I am looking for an (8052-style?) flashable microcontroller that meets the following requirements: Necessary requirements: - Cost: < $2 each in quantities 100+ - onboard crystal at 12MHz or faster - DIP style mount (no SMT - Surface Mount Technology) - 20 or greater inputs/outputs - at least 1k of memory - programmer for the chip costs < $100 Wishful requirements: - serially programmable - 2k memory or greater - programmer for the chip costs <$50 - available from Digi-Key I had my eye on the Phillips P89LPC930 (Digi-Key part number 568-1283-5-ND) but the only problem is it is SMT. If you can find a chip that does the same and costs the same as that chip and is DIP then I will be very happy. I'm sure there are a zillion chips out there that meet my requirements so feel free to answer with several options. Thanks! |

It looks like the 16f877a costs more than $2 each in quantities of 100 and doesn't have an on-board oscillator. |
