For Windows 98 SE

When I select File-Open or File-Save in any app I always want the default
folder/files view to be alphanumeric.

Thankyou
Dan

The file-open file-save browser window has controls which enable me to
select the alphanumeric view. But this is not the solution I need
because this change is not permanent and it is not global. ( does not
effect other apps )

When I try File-Open a second time the view has returned to the
previous selection rather than staying alphanumeric.

carboncopy-ga,

I'm not sure if the setup or even options are exactly the same in 98
as 2000 and higher, but once you change the viewing option of a single
folder, click:

tools / folder options / view / apply to all folders

that should set and keep the view settings of the current folder and
apply them to all other folders on your computer.
