How do temperatures effect health? An answer to this question will
resolve a petty squabble between friends. In this particular case the
subject was accustomed to 75 degree temperatures for the majority of
the day and was subjected to 50 degree temperature indoors, with short
sleeves on and pants, for 8 hours with no physical activity during
that period. So the question is basically, is it possible for this
environment to have caused the subject to have gotten a stuffy nose,
or do temperatures have no effect on physiology other than the obvious
extreme temperatures?
Answer
There is no answer at this time.

50 degrees all day in short sleeves and no exercise?

Man, that's not only cold, but I'm pretty sure it violates the Geneva Convention.

pinkfreud, thanks for your input, however the question is not about a
cold, it is about a stuffy nose, my question is whether a colder
temperature than one is accustomed to can cause mucus build-up.

pafalafa, by no means do I think 50 degree temperatures are inhumane,
however I think the difference between 50 and 75 degrees is quite
large considering the temperature of the human body is 98.6 degrees,
and maintaining that temperature in environments of lower temperatures
would result in a higher level of stress on the body.
