As marketing manager for our company, it is up to me to decide if we
should or shouldn't allow customers to leave product reviews on our
new website. We'll be using a webhost that makes it easy to allow
reviews but the question is- should we? We deal with woodworkers and
specific niche products. Many of our customers can be extremely
'picky' with their feedback in general. Most of our customers are
awesome but what are the pros and cons of these reviews from a
marketing perspective? Articles and URLs would be most appreciated.

By the way, a large portion of the products we carry are exclusive to
our company. I'm not sure if it would be advantageous to allow
reviews on those products or just the ones that are offered by other
companies as well.

I totally support letting customers post reviews. Initially a
criticism or tow may smart. However once there are many reviews people
will discount negative feed-back if the far majority is complimentary.

An idea you may consider is having a system which allows you to
provide feed-back to a comment. I love to read when a company
responds. You may write soemthing like, "XYZ product is not designed
nor promoted as a solution for ABC use, take a look at JKL, it may
serve your needs more"

Good luck to you guys!
