How many college campuses are there in the United States? Including four year colleges and community colleges, but not online or commercial universities like Devry or University of Phoenix. A university can have various campuses, for example, University of Minnesota - Twin Cities is one, University of Minnesota - Duluth is another. Thank you. |

4146. I got this number by creating a database from the Department of Education's IPEDS database: http://nces.ed.gov/ipedspas/index.asp which includes all colleges in the US, and allows sorting by, e.g. profit vs non-profit, etc. I selected all non-profit public and private colleges and universities, and listed out each campus. For University of Minnesota, for instance, the list included: UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA-TWIN CITIES UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA-CROOKSTON UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA-DULUTH UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA-MORRIS and like I said, the bottom line was 4146 college campuses. Before rating this answer, let me know if there's anything else you need. Cheers, pafalafa-ga search strategy -- Used the bookmark site for the IPEDS database. |
