The first time I remember hearing about Cookie Dough Ice Cream was
probably 1990 or 1991, it was "Thomas Sweets" in New Brunswick, NJ. A
site online claims that 1986 was when Ben & Jerry's came up with the
concept and 1991 was when it was released commercially.
This is all well and good - but I met someone who claims to have
invented it himself (and sold it for some money). Please help me sort
this out.

Hello efk-ga,

The site that you're referring to is the Ben & Jerry's official
website. I went on a tour of the Ben & Jerry's factory in the spring
of 1991 and they gave us free samples of a new ice cream. Yep!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Original Ice Cream Pints
Vanilla Ice Cream with Gobs of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

We knew we were onto something big when we made the world's first
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream in 1986. It took us a while to
iron out the details, but in 1991 we finally rolled the world's first
Dough - in pints - out the door & into ice cream history. Today it
still reigns among our all time most popular flavors.

You say you've met someone that claims to have invented this flavor.
What information are you looking for -- especially considering the
price you've set?

I'm looking to see if this person is named somewhere on the web. He
had his own ice cream company, which I've found mention of, obliquely.
I don't understand what you mean about the price I've set. I just guessed a number.
