I am trying to fill in the brackets below:
According to [ ], [xx]% of the [xx] million cars shipped worldwide in
2004 had in-car displays, which is expected to increase to [xx]% of
the [xx] million cars expected to be shipped in (any year after 2007).
[Any similar data on aftermarket installation would be helpful here].
As a result of the increasing installation of in-car displays in new
cars and the continued growth in the aftermarket, according to [___],
the in-car display market is expected to grow from [$x million] in
2004 to [$y million] in (any year after 2007).
For my purpose, "in-car display" is NOT a digital speedometer, or a
car stereo display. Those types of in-car displays should not be
included. Instead, think GPS navigational display or an LCD screen with input
from a DVD player.
The eventual source must consent to being quoted in a published document. |

Please do not refer to the Frost & Sullivan report on Automotive
Entertainment and Navigation...it's not what I'm looking for.
Also, to clarify, in car displays either a) display navigational
information, or b) display full motion video. Thanks.

Hello tylerdavidg-ga,
Thank you for the additional information. I?ve been researching your
question and I?ve discovered quite a lot of information. This is a hot
and growing field.
Unfortunately, the kind of market research information you?re looking
for is mostly available in very expensive market research reports.
(There are many others beyond the Frost & Sullivan report.) I?ve been
scouring the web to find summary articles or trade press news reports
that would give highlight statistics from these expensive reports but
I?ve found very little. What there is doesn?t fit the exact format of
your very precise question.
I need to get some input from you on how to proceed. Are you familiar
with this field? Would an overview of the emerging trends be useful to
you even if it?s not exactly in your ?fill-in-the-blanks? format? I
could take a more focused approach to my research if I had a better
understanding of the context of your question and the scope of the
information you?re looking for. There is a LOT of information about
this growing market and industry.
Please tell me more about the goals of your research so I know how to
proceed. I look forward to your clarification.

czh,
Unfortunately, I do need the exact data, and the place that you are
most likely to find it is in one of those very expensive research
reports. Essentially, I need you to find the best source for the
bracketed data and have the souce company agree to allow me to quote
them in a published document. You will not be able to purchase the
report, but you will be able to direct me to the place where I can
purchase the information.
Thanks.

Hello tylerdavidg-ga,
Thank you for getting back to me. I?ve already found some of the data
you?re looking for and I believe I have a source for the rest. All of
the information is contained in expensive market research reports. As
I understand your clarification, pointing you to the market research
reports with convincing evidence that they contain the information
you?re looking for will meet the requirement for getting the
statistics you need.
On the other hand, I don?t believe I can get the source company to
agree to allow you to quote them since I don?t have the necessary
information they?ll need for granting the permission -- i.e., who you
are, what publication and when, what the exact quote or reference will
be, etc. Instead, I can find you the contact person you will have to
deal with to get these permissions.
Please let me know if my proposed answer will be satisfactory. I look
forward to your clarification.
