When and from what language the bible was translated into Japanese version? And how many different Japanese (bible) versions in Japan today? What about Chinese and Taiwanese translation? |

This site states that the first Japanese Bible was introduced into Japan in 1549 when Francis Xavier arrived with a manuscript translation but it does not state from what language the translation was made: http://www.baobab.or.jp/~stranger/mypage/bible.htm This site states that the first complete Bible in Chinese appeared in 1908: http://www.worldscriptures.org/pages/chineseshanghai.html This site states that the first complete Bible in Taiwanese was first published in 1884: http://www.worldscriptures.org/pages/taiwanese.html If the above answers your question, please donate the fee to the AMerican Hurricane Appeal! |

I read something by "Brother David" about some success he had importing bibles to communist China when they had red covers - it being socially acceptable to be seen in public with a little red book (externally resembling Mao's). |
