WHY did they take Nero Wolfe off the air? He has been running at 5-6
p.m. on Sundays. He was gone this Sunday. Is this a permanent
change? Thanks! Cynthia McCrea cmccrea@nwtec.com

Hello caitlin98,

I'm sorry to report the A&E show has been taken off the air.

According to this article:
CNN.com - 'Nero Wolfe' gets canceled - August 26, 2002 Posted: 4:07 PM
EDT (2007 GMT)
http://www.cnn.com/2002/SHOWBIZ/TV/08/26/television.nero.reut/index.html

"NEW YORK (Reuters) -- High production costs and low ratings have
spelled doom for A&E's "Nero Wolfe," starring Timothy Hutton. The
cable channel has canceled the weekly hourlong period detective series
after two seasons, Variety reports."

I'm sorry... I also liked the show. Perhaps we can view it in re-runs
sometime in the future.

Google search strategy: "Nero Wolfe" "A&E"

Regards,

What a letdown. First A&E canceled "100 Centre Street," and now this.
I guess A&E is ratings-driven, like other commercial networks, but I
had hoped that a classy show like "Nero Wolfe" would be such a feather
in their cap that the ratings would not be all-important.

"Pfui", as Wolfe would say. I hadn't heard. This will bum out my wife.
We're both great fans of the show (as well, obviously, of the books).
Perhaps A&E will get somewhat of a clue, and release the shows on DVD
in the future.

Pink, did you know that Wolfe was the son of Sherlock Holmes and Irene
Adler? And that Rex Stout once "proved" that Watson was a woman?

Oh, that’s very bad news indeed! I noticed that it wasn’t on this past
Sunday, and was hoping that it was just a schedule aberration owing to
the end of summer. It was well-cast and had a great retro feel to it.

Oh well, back to BBC.
