I assume you're the team leader?
This can probably be applied to anyone in a 'team leader' capacity,
but should work just fine for the Internet.
While an important part of leadership, leading a team is more than
just skills and creativity.
It has to do with business objectives, team objectives, vision, a
strategic plan for implementation, resources, budgets and day to day
operations management, progress monitoring, conceptualizing solutions
to problems, etc..
Lay out a vision for what the team needs to accomplish. Communicate
this vision to both above and below you. Get management's backing
that your vision is the right one.
Give people the tools they need to succeed. Assess if you have the
'right' team in place. Do they have the skill sets to execute your
plan? If not, make a decision to either get rid of them or train
them. If you don't have the skills to train them, send them to
someone who can.
Put together a project list. Monitor the projects. Hold weekly
meetings so the left hand knows what the right is doing at all times.
Discuss problems and solutions. Discuss your collective effectiveness
of solutions implemented.
Assess if you've got the right mix of functions. Do you have the
'right' people making sure the following areas are being proactively
managed:
- server administration
- database adminstration
- programming
- usability
- web and graphic design
- copyrighting
- online marketing
- search engine optimization
- pay per click campaigns
- analysis of traffic
- analysis of conversion ratios
- search engine rankings
Just some of my thoughts. Hope this helps. |
