This seems to be one movement of a Flute Concerto, and the style sounds extremely like Vivaldi. Or, perhaps Haydn or Bach ...in that order. It is definitely a Baroque or possibly early Classical-period piece. |

Hmmm I'm not so sure, although anyone is forgiven for thinking so. There are some twentieth century parodies that have been written to sound like Baroque pieces, and this sounds a little dubious to me. The instrumentation is odd, sounds like period instruments, or maybe that's my speakers! Anyway, the fact that there is a harpsichord continuo rules Haydn out, and other classical composers too, they didn't use it! It sounds like Bach, Vivaldi and most Baroque composers, I'd have said Bach upon first hearing it, but I'm not familiar with the piece. I would be weary placing it in the baroque era though merely because of the parodies and pastiches out there from the twentieth century, you may hear harmonic structures and rhythms that don't seem characteristic of baroque. |
