There are dvd players that can hold a large number of discs at one time (60 to 120, depending on the model). If you take the time to type in the titles you can easily flip through and select the one you want. If you want I can provide some model numbers. This will be less time consuming than ripping all those dvds. If you want it to be totally digital, there are boxes that will interface with your computer and TV to deliver any content. Again, if you want models, I could provide them. |

You could try using a program called DVD Shrink. It's totally free and easy to use. It's a program used for ripping personal DVD's and storing them on the harddrive. Compression is optional. |

I have used DVD shrink but it is a bit cumbersome for lots of dvd's when you want to play them back from the hard drive. |

Hi, I would recommend two software; 1) WinAviVideoConverter: http://www.winavi.com : You can convert many media file formats (DVD, as well as avi) to avi, rm or DVD format. You can save the DVD to harddisk on separate folders in the format you wish, then you can use the media player of your choice (BSplayer is good one http://www.webteh.com) 2) DVDClone: http://www.elby.ch/products/clone_dvd/index.html : You can just rip the DVD to your hard disk to a separate folder, and watch it later with a media player. You have the option of saving the DVD as a ISO file (which is a big single file image of the DVD) and then later simulate this file as a real DVD. Both are small but good software. If you use avi (DivX) format you will save plenty of harddisk space (of course you'll lose some video quality). I hope this helps. atifk. |
