I need to have a list of politicians who were well known for being
honest. There needs to be no record of them lying at any stage within
their political career. They need to be heads of state or Prime
Ministers, but must have been elected to their office.

Could you find a person - any person, not a politician, that has never
lied? That has never said "Oh, you look fabulous in that suit" or "the
cake you've baked tastes lovely?" (when in fact they just wanted not
to insult the other person)

Let me repeat myself

"no record of them lying at any stage within their political career."

I'm not suggesting we have on record their entire lives within which
we are to search for lies- I mean that they have not lied as a
politicians, in matters revolving around their professional political
conduct. This includes, for example, "I did not have sexual relations
with that woman" from Bill Clinton as much as it includes Tony Blair's
lie about Iraq. I wouldn't even bother asking a question that presumed
you could mind-read or find out if someone had EVER lied: I mean in a
political sense.

Considering the difficulty of finding a politician who has never been
caught in a lie or been accused of lying, how many names would you
consider to be an acceptable list?

Enough to prove my friend wrong!

Seriously, about six really solid names would be great. This friend of
mine said "all powerful politicians are liars" and I really strongly
want to prove him wrong, but I've had trouble researching names. For
example, someone like Nelson Mandella springs to mind, but he has lied
about terrorist activities in the past.

Six names would be great,

Thank you very much,

James.

PS: I don't mind if the politician has been accused of lying as long
as the accusation has fallen through.
