Compulsory attendance is a law that says parents must send their children to a government school. Is this a state or federal law? How, when, why, did a law become enacted which gave government a greater authority over a child than the parents have? I could almost understand enacting such a law if it was for the health or safety of a child, but this was just dealing with education. |

Patmarcum-ga Like health and safety , Education IS A RIGHT to which every child is entitled. If governments were NOT to impose laws enforcing education, many children would either receive a sub-standard education or no education at all thereby affecting their career prospects for life. I would suggst if you are unhappy with your children's education then you become an active member in your school's PTA. Regards Mongolia |

If parents are required by law to feed their child's body, I see nothing wrong in requiring them to feed their child's mind. Homeschooling is widely permitted, under many circumstances. But keeping a child illiterate and totally uneducated is not permitted. Many would consider that to be tantamount to child abuse. |
