Did Rafer Johnson kill or was he accused of killing his wife in the late 1960's? If not, was there another sport's caster in the late 1960's in Los Angeles, that did kill his wife. |

"Did Rafer Johnson kill or was he accused of killing his wife in the late 1960's? If not, was there another sport's caster in the late 1960's in Los Angeles, that did kill his wife." No. Rafer Johnson attained fame by winning the decathalon gold medal at the Rome Olympics. He later was one of several black athletes active in Bobby Kennedy's 1968 presidential campaign. He was/is married with a family. His autobiography "The Best That I Can Be", 1998 makes interesting reading, but there is no incident such as you ask about. These sites mention the late defense attorney Johnny Chochran and his legal work for a variety of black athletes, including NFL great Jim Brown who was accused of assaulting a girlfriend. Also, in the 1990's Canadian track star Ben Johnson was accused of assaulting a female track star. BTW, the list of male athletes of all races accused of assaulting women from the 1960's to the present is substantial. http://www.blackpressusa.com/news/Article.asp?SID=3&Title=National+News&NewsID=3984 http://www.courttv.com/news/2005/0330/cochran_ap.html |
