I am looking to find out the story of the first sunroof or moonroof. 
Who first took a hacksaw to their car roof to 'open it up' a bit? A
short history of the sun/moonroof, basically. Not really about a
company, but the people.

Hello karimlakhani-ga,

There seems to be pretty good evidence that Webasto, a German company,
invented the first car with an open roof in the 1930's and came up
with the first electrically retractable sunroof in the early 1960's. I
can't tell whether this information is what you're looking for or if
you want the name of the specific person who came up with the idea.

Finding the name of the individual may be impossible. It may not have
been an individual idea but the evolution of a concept that was
implemented by a succession of design teams. No one seems to have
claimed or been given credit as the individual who created the sun
roof.
