If I had a concept for an electronic device. Where would I go to get a prototype designed and manufactured? Yes I kow this will be $$$ but I do not know where to start. This is a seemingly simple thing that would be no big deal....for the right person....are there trade mags for this type of thing |

It depends where you are based US or UK etc. There are various prototyping services and companies available. A lot depends on how much prototyping, and what type of prototyping you need and of course how much money you have to spend. There are various companies that can make you a complete device, a one off moulded box or various components. The important thing is to make sure that your idea and design is well protected i.e. patent etc before approaching anyone with your idea. Some of these prototyping companies will also manufacture small runs until the product reaches a suitable level. We can help provide a service if interested www.bayworth.com p.s. be wary of people trying to take your money and not offering anything. |

I used to work a company that accepted R&D projects, even little ones from individuals. They were listed in the Yellow Pages under Electronics Research and Development. You might wanna check your own Yellow Pages. If it's something a single individual with some instruments and tools can design, then you can probably find many interested parties by posting your request on the newsgroup sci.electronics.design. Thousands of electronics hobbyists/professionals/retired read the posts daily. |
