Greetings! I found information stating that over half of US national
forests have been logged, and that 95-96% of the old growth forests
have been logged.

From National Resources Defense Council:
"In the U.S., more than half our national forests have been logged,
mined or otherwise industrialized."

From Rainforest Action:
"Ninety-six percent of the country's old growth forests have already
been logged."

From Sierra Club:
"More than half of our National Forests have been logged and scarred
by 440,000 miles of logging roads."

From NFPA: Myths -vs- Facts of Logging National Forests:
"Less than four percent of this nation's native forests remain
unlogged, almost all on public lands."

From Protecting Our National Forests:
"Today the 155 National Forests, including the 270,000-acre Shawnee
National Forest here in Illinois, cover 192 million acres, or about 8
percent of the United States. Although only 4 percent of the nation's
old growth forests remain, 75 percent of them are found in National
Forests."

There seems to be conflicting information on the web, and searching
the USDA forest service yielded no concrete percentages. However, the
Sierra Club is usually a solid informational source. I hope this
information proves of assistance in your quest.
