I live in Utah. I am 23 years old. A couple weeks ago, I was in a
collision with an uninsured car. I just got my $700 ambulance ride
bill and am dreading to see the hospital bills. I have been unemployed
and just two days ago, I got a low wage job, am poor, and barely
paying rent. The police officers at the scene just shrugged me off and
didn't offer any advice for what I could do. These same police
officers assured me at the scene that the fellow's auto insurance
would cover it. I ask them if they were sure of that. They said they
were. They either lied to me in saying that the fellow had auto
insurance or assumed he did. A law firm I called was unwilling to take
the case as they flat out told me that since the guy doesn't have auto
insurance, they won't take the case. What are my options?

So sorry to hear about your accident. My son was recently rearended
while he was stopped in his van. His car was a total write off.
However, the kid that hit him DID have insurance, so his rental car,
expenses, etc are all covered.

I'm not sure what your options are at this point. Do you, yourself,
have any type of insurance? I'd advice you to speak to lawyer ( most
first time consultations are free ) to see what your next steps are.

No, I do not have insurance. The law firm I talked to would not take
my case when I called them because the other fellow doesn't have auto
insurance.

For up to $7,500, Small Claims Court may be an option.
