What technique is used for the illustrations in the Ninth Edition 
of the Encyclopedia Britannica [1890]?  I suspect the black and white 
illustrations are steel engravings, but I'm not certain.  The
color plates -- basically maps -- generally use three colors
in addition to black & white.  But are they etchings?  Engravings?
Lithographs?
