I'm looking for a specific quote from one of America's founding fathers. It's fairly famous, and circulated for awhile among leftists. Something about blood lubricating the machine of liberty, or revolution being necessary every couple years for the good of the republic. |

Hi kumari982, I believe the quote you are referring to is one made by Thomas Jefferson. The actual quote comes from a letter written to William Stephens Smith in 1787. "...The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it's natural manure." Sources: Thomas Jefferson quotes http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Thomas_Jefferson Thomas Jefferson Letters http://odur.let.rug.nl/~usa/P/tj3/writings/brf/jefl64.htm ========================================== Search strategy: founding fathers blood liberty ://www.google.com/search?q=founding+fathers+blood+liberty I hope the above information answers your question. If you require any further clarification please do not hesitate to ask. Regards, lotd |
