I need advice on how to best guide my friend so he can learn to
maintain a website using his MAC laptop. Currently I maintain the
website using a Windows XP computer. I don't know MAC which makes
this hard. Here are my questions. First, I need to recommend to my
friend a GUI oriented ftp program for him to use on the MAC to get/put
html pages to the website. I use ws-ftp on Windows but have no idea
whatever as to what to recommend for his MAC laptop. I would prefer a
free ftp program for his MAC. Second, I need to teach him how to
understand and work with the file/folder structure of a MAC laptop. I
need URLs to some good tutorials that he can use to learn enough that
he can figure out how to copy web pages from his laptop to the website
and vice-versa. (by the way, the website I maintain which he is going
to learn to maintain himself is: http://www.MattRitterMusic.com).
Third, he is going to eventually use Dreamweaver 4.01 Ultra (the ftp
does not work due to it being such an old product... I repeat the ftp
componant does not work, which is why we need to use a separate ftp
product). So I would like some urls to good tutorials to get him
started on using Dreamweavor ultra (which is about 5 years old) for
html maintainance (not jsp and not php). Finally, I would like good
links to teach him basic html such as would be needed to work on the
site whose link I gave. Any additional suggestions such as a link to
a tutorial for MAC users to maintain their own website would be
helpful too. |
