Question ID: 59239
I have a stool made by Kevi of Denmark. This stool has a separate seat
and a separate back and has 5 casters. The casters have the female
end on them, while the chair has the male ends for the casters to fit
onto. I can only find casters with the male end on them. Where can I
find casters with the female end on them?

Hello Lorne73,

And thanks for your question!

I originally set out to find office chair type casters with female
connectors and did find quite a few. Some of the best selection was
located here at J. W. Winco,
http://www.jwwinco.com/products/serviceparts/section1/index.html . You
might be able to find a match on this page.

It then occured to me though, that it is difficult to tell from their
pictures and descriptions whether the female fittings on their casters
are press fit, screw threaded or designed to "bolt through". And I did
not know the diameter of the male fitting on your chair and felt I
needed more information.

So, I set off to find Kevi +Denmark +wheel OR caster and found out
about the Fritz Hansen Company.

Fritz Hansen - http://www.fritzhansen.com/

"125 years of Danish Furniture Design

Fritz Hansen, the founder of the company, registered as a master
cabinetmaker on October 24, 1872 in Copenhagen. He initially
specialized as a manufacturer of furniture parts such as chair legs,
balusters and iron frames.

In 1915, after many experiments, the first Danish chair in steam
bentwood was launched at Fritz Hansen's new factory in Allerød north
of Copenhagen. It was an immediate success, and in the next decades
many pieces of functional furniture in steam bentwood followed...."

It appears that Fritz Hansen Company is either the current
manufacturer or the exclusive distributor for Kevi furniture. Their US
representative (and I am assuming that you are in the US lorne73)
follows:

KnollStudio

105 Wooster St.
New York, N.Y. 10012

Phone: 305 571 0908

E-mail: martha_t_palma@knol.com

I thought it VERY interesting that there is a New York address, yet
the area code is for the Miami, Florida area. I did a reverse number
search on this phone number, but it must either be cellular or
unlisted.

That being said, this person should be able to help supply replacement
casters for your chair - or stool. If not, the headquarters for Fritz
Hansen is listed below:

Fritz Hansen

Customer Service
Allerødvej 8

Denmark

Phone: (+45) 48172300
Fax: (+45) 48171949

E-mail: Web_CustomerService@fritzhansen.com

I'm confident they will be able to help if the US representative
should fail to stock parts.

Best regards,
